Seamus Fahey's Black Ice had luck on his side when winning the BRC McMahon Reinforcements Handicap Hurdle at Limerick today, making the most of the final flight fall of leader and 6/4 favourite Lake Field

Lake Field held a lead of a length and a half when appearing to get stuck in the mud on landing after the final flight, leaving the staying on Black Ice to record a seven lengths win over Line View

Fahey later commented “we had a bit of luck on our side but he did win well in the end and while it's hard to know, might have won either way.

“He loves soft ground but with it being so bad, we were afraid of the 2m3f and he'll run next at Tramore (on New Year's Day) in a 0-109 handicap hurdle.”
