Minella Indo heads the market at a general quote of 5/2 for Sunday’s Paddy Power Irish Gold Cup at Leopardstown ahead of the latest declaration stage tomorrow.

The Beat Hollow gelding, runner-up in the RSA Novices’ Chase at Cheltenham last year having won over hurdles at the Festival in 2019, won his first two starts this season before being sent off 5/2 favourite for an ultra-competitive renewal of the Savills Chase at Leopardstown over Christmas.

Henry de Bromhead’s charge was tracking the leaders when falling around the halfway stage with stablemate A Plus Tard going on to land the spoils in a thrilling finish.

Regular rider Rachael Blackmore is looking forward to Sunday’s highlight and is hopeful that her mount can put behind him that first non-completion of his career.

“Minella Indo’s been fantastic for me. He gave me my first Grade 1 in the Albert Bartlett at Cheltenham which was an incredible day.

“He heads for the Irish Gold Cup. We’re really looking forward to him.

“It was unfortunate what happened to him the last day.

“He seems to be very good since. I gave him a pop last week and there seem to be no ill-effects from the fall. It was just one of those things and we move on to the next day.”
