Folsom Blue is set to skip the Paddy Power Chase at Leopardstown next week and instead make an appearance at Limerick.

Last season's Irish Grand National fifth has not yet discovered that level of form this campaign, but he wasn't disgraced in finishing sixth over an inadequate distance at Punchestown on his most recent start.

Trainer Conor O'Dwyer feels three miles at Leopardstown on December 27 may not be enough of a stamina test for his seven-year-old.

O'Dwyer said: "Folsom Blue is in the Paddy Power, but he'll be in at Limerick, too.

"He'd need it very, very soft and the Paddy Power would happen all too quick for him, I'd say.

"I'd imagine he'll be avoiding that and we'll be picking out something in Limerick for him instead."

The Rossmore House-based trainer does not expect to have many runners over Christmas, although Clonmel maiden hurdle winner Go Darsi Go could join his stable companion on the trip south.

"A horse I won a maiden hurdle with last season that I liked a lot, Go Darsi Go, might start back at Limerick on St Stephen's Day in a winners-of-one race. He likes testing ground," said O'Dwyer.

"We're quiet enough, we have plenty of young horses but just not a lot of runners."
