Bolger's Dawn raid Dawn Approach headlines a field of seven for the Alfred Nobel Rochestown Stakes at Naas tomorrow. Jim Bolger's unbeaten two-year-old already features in ante-post lists for next season's 2000 Guineas on the back of victories over the minimum trip at the Curragh and at this track last time out, where he stepped up to six furlongs. On that occasion the son of Bolger's 2008 Derby hero New Approach powered home by five and a half lengths from Canary Row, significantly increasing his margin of victory over the same horse from the Curragh. Richard Hannon was successful in this Listed event 12 months ago with Lilbourne Lad, and this year sends out once-raced Goodwood winner Mister Marc, the mount of Richard Hughes. David Wachman's Cougar Ridge is another unbeaten colt, while Aidan O'Brien relies on Pedro The Great, an unraced half-brother to Footstepsinthesand, winner of the 2000 Guineas at Newmarket back in 2005. Hannon is also represented in the Coolmore Stud Fillies Stakes through Sky Lantern, an easy winner of her sole start at Goodwood last month, after which a trip to Royal Ascot was mentioned.
