Bolster has Betfair target David Bridgwater is gearing Cheltenham Gold Cup runner-up The Giant Bolster towards a return to the racecourse in next month's Betfair Chase at Haydock. The Cotswold trainer will chart a course back to the scene of his stable star's most recent outing, where he was only beaten two and a quarter lengths by the late Synchronised. Having initially been prone to jumping errors, the seven-year-old also landed a valuable handicap at Cheltenham in January and outran his odds of 50-1 at the Festival. "I had his campaign mapped out as soon as he passed the post at Cheltenham," said Bridgwater. "He's good at the moment and there's a certain race in the middle of next month at Haydock which will probably be the first port of call." The former jockey has not ruled out another pre-Christmas race, although it is not likely to be the Paddy Power Gold Cup. "Last year was his chance to win the Paddy Power with 10st 3lb - but, unfortunately, Tom (Scudamore) fell off him!" he said. "I suppose the only handicap I might run him in would be the Hennessy. "If Long Run went there, he would struggle to give us weight. We'll have to see." Looking ahead to the season proper, he said: "We've got a few nice ones to come and The Giant Bolster has raised our profile a bit. "But good horses like him look after themselves - it's winning with the bad ones that's more difficult."
