Boot Camp the 11/8 favourite, made a winning start to his hurdling career but had to survive a stewards enquiry at Down Royal.

He made his way to the front before the last but wandered on the run-in and carried Court Tycoon right.

The winner kept on best in the closing stages, though, to pass the post two and a quarter lengths in front of State Of Nirvana (5/2).

Court Tycoon (8/1) was a further length and three parts away in third.

Gordon Elliott said: "The horse came home but he was behind the bridle the whole way and we had a hood on him and Davy (Russell) said maybe we should leave it off the next day.

"He said the ground was maybe as tight as he would have wanted it, he wasn't really letting himself down on it.

"He was there at the right end of it, thank God.

"We'll keep him going over the summer. He'll jump a fence at some stage."

Boot Camp won for Gigginstown House Stud.
