Bowerman (4/6f) gained his second win this month at Dundalk as the Ado McGuinness trained gelding landed the four runner Fundraise @ Dundalk Stadium Race under jockey Ronan Whelan.

Today's 1m2f race saw the return of one-time high class juvenile Princess Yaiza now a 4yo, to trainer Gavin Cromwell following an unsuccessful spell in America, since her Group 2 heroics on Arc weekend in October 2018.

In the race Bowerman, a son of Dutch Art, travelled strongly into contention early in the home straight and in the end won easily by three and three parts of a length from Princess Yaiza, which ran a satisfactory race in second.

Winning jockey Whelan later said “it was all plain sailing and for a jockey he's an absolute dream.

“He's behind the bridle, switched off for you, but then when you want him he's all game.

“As soon as I grabbed a hold of him he quickened up and it was just a matter of keeping him up to his job.”

When asked if he had any doubts about today's 1m2f trip he added “not really. Ado asked me that but I sat second the last day and he hit the line well. I was more confident than hopeful that he would stay.

“With it being a four-runner field I thought it might be to his advantage.

“After the last win Ado mentioned a Listed race in France for him. I don't know, we'll leave that to Ado and the guys as they know the horse best.”
