Braxton fine after fall Colonel Braxton, one of Ireland`s most exciting novice hurdlers last season, was this morning reported to have emerged unscathed after being dramatically brought down on his debut over fences in the Mulhuddart Beginners Chase at Fairyhouse yesterday. The six-year-old was partnered by Kieran Kelly who was also uninjured but got only as far as the third fence, and his trainer Dessie Hughes reflected: 'It was just one of those things, a horse falling in front of him was the problem. 'Unfortunately he rolled the wrong way as far as Colonel Braxton was concerned and brought him down, but he is fine and in good form this morning so that is a relief.' Hughes has the William Neville & Sons Novice Chase at Leopardstown as the main target for Colonel Braxton, who carries the colours of Sue Magnier, before the turn of the year. He went on: 'He has always schooled well but it would be nice to get a run into him before Leopardstown so we may go to Punchestown next Wednesday there is a two-mile beginners chase there and that wouldput him just right for the 28th at Leopardstown.'
