Breeders' Cup option for Jwala Jwala may end her racing career in the Breeders' Cup Turf Sprint following her victory in the Nunthorpe Stakes. The four-year-old filly, who will retire to the paddocks at the end of the season, will first head for the Qatar Prix de l'Abbaye at Longchamp on October 6 after her success in the five-furlong Group One at York on Friday. That win gave her an automatic entry to the Turf Sprint at Santa Anita, giving connections food for thought. "She seems to have come out of it in really good order," said trainer Robert Cowell. "The Abbaye is definite and she won't be racing next year, but there's a possibility she may take up an invite for the Breeders' Cup. It's something she's got an automatic invitation to. "The owners are mulling over their options at the moment. They probably don't have a lot to lose so there's a small chance she may take up that engagement as well, but we'll see." Spirit Quartz could try to bounce back in the Abbaye after a poor run in the Nunthorpe in which he had finished runner-up 12 months earlier. "We were a little disappointed with him. The occasion got to him and he was upset in the paddock and before the race," said Cowell. "He wasn't like that last year when he was second to Ortensia. I'm not sure why he was like that. We're going to check him out in the next couple of days and make sure there's nothing going on. If all's OK he'll go for the Abbaye." Cowell was delighted with Kingsgate Native, who was a close fifth in the York dash. He is on course for the Betfred Sprint Cup at Haydock on September 7. "He was overlooked a bit and the old boy actually ran a superb race, taking on the youngsters again," said the Newmarket handler. "He was a close-up fifth on a track I didn't think he'd excel on because of the hype and the build-up to the race, but the hood seem to work on that occasion. It drowned out a lot of the noise and he ran really well. "It was an outstanding run by him and he'll head to the Sprint Cup at Haydock in a couple of weeks' time."
