Broome bids to put his name to the forefront of Classic contenders from the Aidan O’Brien stable when he lines up for the Derrinstown Stud Derby Trial at Leopardstown on Sunday.

The son of 2014 Epsom Derby hero Australia made an impressive seasonal reappearance when taking the Ballysax Stakes over this course and distance by eight lengths last month.

He is set to face six rivals in this Group Three contest, including stablemates Blenheim Prince and Sovereign, who took second place in the Ballysax.

Joseph O’Brien gives Buckhurst the chance to prove himself after narrowly winning a Leopardstown maiden over a mile on his debut five weeks ago.

The list of seven hopefuls is completed by Ballysax third and sixth Pythion and Guaranteed plus Rakan.

O’Brien is doubly represented with Fire Fly and Mona Lisa’s Smile after all 10 entries were declared for the Derrinstown Stud 1,000 Guineas Trial.

Fozzy Stack saddles last month’s Cork winner Lady Wannabe, who holds an engagement in the Tattersalls Irish 1,000 Guineas, as does Dermot Weld’s Titanium Sky.

Michael Halford runs his promising Aga Khan-owned filly Hamariyna, who got off the mark at Tipperary last month.

Last year’s Derrinstown Stud Derby Trial victor Hazapour returns to the track for the Comer Group Amethyst Stakes.

The Weld stable also has Zuenoon in the six-strong field in which O’Brien senior runs Dunkirk Harbour.

Ger Lyons’ Psychedelic Funk, Jim Bolger’s Verbal Dexterity and Zibha from the Stack yard make up the list of declarations for the Group Three heat over a mile.
