Craig Bryson is looking ahead to next season with optimism for Alba Chiara

Alba Chiara shows promise despite second-place finish

Craig Bryson is hoping Alba Chiara can progress over the winter months and make her presence felt in staying handicaps next year.

The three-year-old daughter of Almanzor, winner of the Ulster Cesarewitch on her penultimate start, finished second in her attempt to follow up yesterday afternoon.

“Alba ran solid, we were back in trip to the 1m5f,” Bryson, assistant trainer to his partner Natalia Lupini, commented.

“We think she is going to be a nice filly next year over those staying handicaps, two miles upwards.”

Planning for the future and winter progression

Bryson also reflected on Alba Chiara’s previous Ulster Cesarewitch win, which she achieved carrying 11lb extra due to an administrative error.

“It was, in the circumstances. She has won it well that day and she has come out today and she has beat the horse that was second (Billie Frechette) that day carrying the extra weight, so she has stepped forward as well,” he said.

“We would be hopeful of next year with her — she's a huge, big filly and we think she is going to progress plenty over the winter.”
