Ado McGuinness' face lights up at the mention of Bubbly Bellini and it is no wonder as the evergreen gelding made it 13 wins in the past five years for the Lusk trainer at the Curragh last Sunday.

Connections bought the son of Mull Of Kintyre out of a Wolverhampton claimer way back in 2010, and the bargain-basement purchase has repaid the invest in spades ever since.

The nine-year-old was scoring at the Curragh for the fourth time when beating Club Wexford by a neck in the St Patricks Festival Handicap, a race he also won 12 months ago, and McGuinness is looking at a quick return to the headquarters of Irish Flat racing.

"There isn't a bother on him, and he could go back there on Sunday week for a similar handicap. There is also a race at Naas just before the big Punchestown meeting that he won last year," said McGuinness.

"He got 2lb for the win which is fair enough. I think the draw is crucial in those races as he was on the rail in stall 13. If you are out wide you have to burn up that bit extra to get there.

"We got him out of a claimer on the all-weather and he's now run 105 times and won 17 races. He owes us nothing, and I'm praying for a wet summer!"
