A course and distance scorer early last month Burlesque Queen (11/2 into 9/2) doubled up at Powerstown Park in style, in the Prior Park Service Station Clonmel Handicap Hurdle.

Burlesque Queen’s last three form figures are now ‘121’ and there could be more to come if this five and a half length success is anything to go by.

With James O’Sullivan again in the plate, the daughter of Gold Well loomed up looking like it was ‘bar a fall’ from before the second last.

The progressive five-year-old cleared the final two flights with aplomb, and it was Fou Diligence that chased her home in vain.

Said winning trainer Liz Doyle: “The light weight helps her as she is very small. The softest ground she raced on prior to today was the day she won here two runs ago and I was happy enough today as Gold Wells usually copes with anything.

"We'll go for something similar again and try and keep the weight low. If there was something here again it would be great!"

The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer examined Shantou Sisu trained by W.J.Lanigan, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to be blowing hard post race.
