Burton Port joins Jonjo O'Neill Burton Port, off the course since finishing second at Aintree last April, has been switched from Nicky Henderson to train Jonjo O'Neill. The nine-year-old chaser finished fourth in the 2012 Gold Cup won by the O'Neill-trained Synchronised. O'Neill told the Gloucestershire Echo that Burton Port will now occupy the same box at Jackdaws Castle that formerly housed star chaser Albertas Run, retired by Burton Port's owner Trevor Hemmings in the spring. "He hasn't run for about 18 months and he was rated 166," said O'Neill. "He's rated 158 now so the handicapper has given him a bit of chance. "He'll probably go chasing but we might look at hurdles for him as well. He's a nice horse and he could even make up into a Grand National horse. "We could start him off with a few runs over hurdles to see how he is and make sure that he's sound and everything, and see how we go." O'Neill also told the Echo that his Royal Ascot hero Well Sharp should be considered a doubtful starter in the Cesarewitch Handicap having already had to miss York's Ebor last month. "His blood isn't quite right at the moment and he scoped a little bit dirty," said O'Neill. "He looks in great form but inside he's not, obviously, so we might just finish him for the season."
