Limerick trainer Charles Byrnes trained his homebred Caltra Royale to win the opening www.patohare.com Maiden Hurdle at Downpatrick today.
Backed from 5/2 into 2/1f, the daughter of Moscow Society made all under amateur rider Mark Fahey, eventually running out a four and a half length winner over Strident
Byrnes later reported "Mark (Fahey) rode her last time out at Limerick and got on well with her and gave her a fine ride today. She'll go handicapping next and that was my first winner at Downpatrick."
