CAVALERO SET FOR FONTWELL OUTING Martell Grand National hope Cavalero is set to continue his preparation for the Aintree spectacular at Fontwell next Monday. The 12-year-old, winner of the Christie`s Foxhunter Chase at Cheltenham last year and the Martell Fox Hunters` Chase over the National fences in 1998, will run in the Hassroder Foxhunters Trial. The gelding finished fourth in a point-to-point at Larkhill in January and filled the same position, beaten just under six lengths, in a hunter chase at Ludlow last Thursday. Audrey Manners, wife of Cavalero`s owner/trainer/breeder John said: 'We were very happy with Cavalero`s two outings so far this season. 'The plan at the moment is that he will hopefully run next Monday in the Hassroder Foxhunters Trial over three and a quarter miles at Fontwell, providing it`s not flooded and under water! 'I don`t think he`s ever been to Fontwell but you`ve got to run somewhere. 'After that we will aim him once again at the Christie`s Foxhunter Chase at the Cheltenham Festival before going to Aintree.' Cavalero, a 33-1 chance for the National with Ladbrokes, was pulled up in the race two years when Sean Curran`s saddle slipped and missed the cut for last season`s renewal by one. However, he looks certain to get into this season`s line-up as he is 42nd in the list of entries - the race has a safety limit of 40. Cavalero is currently on 9st 11lb for the National and Mrs Manners added: 'Obviously we`re very happy with his weight as it means we should definitely get a run this year.'
