CENKOS COULD TAKE JAPANESE OPTION

Plans for Cenkos remain in the balance following the news that the Cheltenham Festival has been rescheduled next month.

The gelding had been set to run in today`s Queen Mother Champion Chase until the foot and mouth crisis intervened.

Oliver Sherwood`s charge has been invited to the Nakayama Grand Jump in Japan on April 14 but the situation has been complicated by the rescheduling of the Champion Chase for four days later.

The trainer told the Racing Channel: 'We very kindly got an invite from the Japanese Racing Association to go out there.

'At the moment the plan is to go but obviously if Cheltenham does go ahead we might have to rethink and a lot can happen over the next few weeks.

'The original plan was to go for the Queen Mother Champion Chase but if that doesn`t look like going ahead then we will definitely go out to Japan.

'There is half a million pounds to the winner - I think you get #10,000 for finishing sixth - and all the expenses are paid for so it`s going to be a bit of fun.'

Cenkos, second to Tiutchev in the Arkle Trophy last season, has yet to score this season but did finish second to Function Dream in the Victor Chandler Chase on his penultimate start.
