CHILDS DECIDES AGAINST APPEAL

Greg Childs has decided not to appeal against the #25,000 fine he was handed by the Hong Kong Jockey Club stewards last week.

Last night`s deadline passed without the jockey`s registering a protest against the penalty for comments made to fellow rider Justin Sheehan before the running of the Hong Kong Mile on December 17th.

Childs` manager Dale Verhagen told the Australian Associated Press: 'He preferred to let it go and get back to the job of riding winners.

'He`s happy for the incident to go away.'

Childs won the Mile on Sunline, who made all, with Sheehan third on Adam. He admitted speaking to Sheehan before the race but denied quotes attributed to him in a newspaper suggesting Sheehan should not challenge him for the lead.

Childs was found guilty of a breach of the rules pertaining to the good reputation of racing in Hong Kong. - PA
