There was a lengthy wait for the result of the concluding 2m4f handicap hurdle at Cork to be called after Plunkett Street and Cafe Con Leche (12/1) flashed past the post locked together.

Plunkett Street led from early in the straight and was pursued down to the last by Cafe Con Leche who had come from off the pace.

Of the pair, the Charles Byrnes-trained Cafe Con Leche got a quicker jump at the last and that momentum proved crucial in the end as the photograph revealed that the nine-year-old was up by a nose for owner/rider Anthony Bustin.

Cafe Con Leche's previous win had also come at Cork in late 2023.

"He travelled better than he usually does and jumped very well," said the winning rider.

"Even leaving the parade ring, he felt up for it today and I got a nice run into the race.

"I didn't think he had a chance of winning until he flew home, but at the line I wasn't sure.

"He had been running consistently enough on the Flat but he doesn't seem as keen over hurdles, although he seems to like this track."
