A second Flat win to go with point-to-point and hurdle success arrived for trainer Garry Caldwell when Acari got there late to land the Kilkenny Hurlers Race Day June 23rd Handicap at Gowran.

A son of Bernard from the stable staff association, Caldwell got his grounding with Pat Martin and he 'jocked up' Gary Halpin for the spin on Acari.

With a hood on for the first time the High Chaparral gelding foiled a gamble on front-runner Vitalized (20/1 into 5/1) by half a length.

"He's been unlucky in his last few at Dundalk - he's been just stuck in traffic a few times," said Caldwell.

"He needed a break and thankfully he got it today.

"He's a lovely horse - an honest type - and he'll do everything you want him to do.

"I've nine horses riding out and Baby Power ran for me here last night but she slipped coming up the straight."

The Stewards fined A. Oliver, trainer, €65 for failing to fit the correct equipment to Full Disclosure Ire) on entering the parade ring.

The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer examined Challow trained by T.G.McCourt, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to be post race normal.
