Canaletto on the march for Moore An avalanche of support for Giovanni Canaletto in the Investec Derby ante-post market has matched Ryan Moore's apparent desire to ride the Aidan O'Brien-trained colt at Epsom. The son of Galileo has been the best-backed horse in the build-up to the premier Classic, and it soon became clear why once Moore was revealed as his jockey on Tuesday. Giovanni Canaletto has a bit to find with the main Derby protagonists, but he won extremely well on his final start as a juvenile and also shaped with promise when runner-up in the Gaillinule Stakes at the Curragh last month. O'Brien, who sounded some caution about going to the Derby in the immediate aftermath of the Curragh, said: "He's in good form. Obviously it's a step quicker than ideal, but we're very happy with him. "He's come out of the Curragh very well. The winner (Curvy) is a very progressive filly, but we were very happy our horse finished very well. "Ryan liked him at the Curragh and we've put cheekpieces on him. Ryan said if he came out of the race well he's the one he'd like to ride." O'Brien, who was won Derby for the last three years and five times in total, also saddles Chester Vase winner Hans Holbein and Kilimanjaro, who tidily claimed the Lingfield trial in May. The Ballydoyle handler said: "Hans Holbein is a horse that looks like he gets a mile and a half well. He wouldn't mind any ease in the ground. He will probably end up getting further than a mile and a half. "Kilimanjaro won his maiden in Dundalk early on, then went to Lingfield. He won nicely and got the mile and a half well. He's a big cruiser and came home very well that day. It's setting up nicely for him as well."
