Canford Cliffs in good form

Richard Hannon Jr feels Canford Cliffs has an "outstanding chance" in the St James's Palace Stakes at Royal Ascot on Tuesday week.

A winner of the Coventry Stakes at the meeting last year, he resumed winning ways with a scintillating success in the Irish 2000 Guineas last month

"He's in very good form and came out of the Irish race very well and looks as though he'll have an outstanding chance," Hannon told At The Races.

"They went a very good gallop in Ireland and he was able to get a very good tow off them. He won the race so well, he never looked at any stage like being beaten and it certainly helped him being held-up."

Canford Cliffs is out to reverse form with Makfi who beat him into third in the English 2000 Guineas.

"You can't say he needed the run (at Newmarket) as he'd had a prep race so there wasn't too much of an excuse and we take the winner on again but we still fancy him," Hannon added.
