Carberry odds-on for third Championship

Paul Carberry remains the odds-on favourite to win his third Irish Jump Jockeys Championship, despite not having ridden a winner since November 6.

Carberry's last winner, Monastrell at Down Royal, occured on the same day multiple Champion Ruby Walsh fractured his leg at the same meeting. However a recent injury has allowed Andrew McNamara draw level with Carberry at the head of the table.

Carberry and McNamara each have 43 winners ridden, seven clear of third placed Barry Geraghty. Davy Russell is currently 11 winners off the pace, while Walsh's substitute in Willie Mullins' yard Paul Townend is 14 winners behind.

Four leading bookmakers have the Championship priced up, with each making Carberry (best priced at 10/11 favourite with Boylesports) an odds-on shot.

Russell: 7/2 (best priced with Ladbrokes)

Townend: 3/1 (Paddy Power)

McNamara: 6/1 (generally)

Geraghty: 16/1 (generally)

Andrew Lynch: 100/1 (Paddy Power)
