Carey eyeing Dublin Racing Festival glory with bumper mares Sonny Carey believes he goes to the Dublin Racing Festival with a couple of live chances in the Coolmore N.H. Sires Irish EBF Mares I.N.H. Flat Race. The Kildare handler will saddle Brosna Shine and Lilannbee in the Grade 2 contest at the start of next month. Both fillies bring winning form into the race and Carey feels they deserve their shot at black type. “We’re very lucky to have two very nice fillies at the same time,” Carey told Dave Keena. High hopes for Fairyhouse winner Brosna Shine “Brosna Shine had a very good run first time out in the ‘Land Rover’, she wasn’t tuned for it or anything, but she ran really well. We thought an awful lot of her. “She went out and did what we thought she’d do in Fairyhouse. We think she’s very good, but she has to go on and do a bit more now. “We’ll let her tell us how good she is. At home we don’t have many that can go with he,r anyway. She’s pretty good, I think. “She’s a pet, she’s very easy. She eats, sleeps, she’s very easy to ride, very straightforward. She’s a pleasure. Black type the goal for Leopardstown duo “We’re not expecting anything, we’re just hoping. Hopefully they run well and to get black type would be brilliant. “The two of them have fantastic pedigrees. If we could get black type for the two of them, it would be great, but that’s very wishful thinking. “I think both of them are good fillies and they have a right to go there and take their chance. “They’ve both won their mares, bumpers now. “It fell right as Lilannbee won her bumper (at Punchestown) on New Year’s Eve, so she’ll have four weeks. She takes very little anyway. “Brosna Shine has had six weeks and it’ll work out fine for her too, she’s fairly laid-back.”
