Carlito set for Scottish Triumph Impressive Leopardstown winner Carlito Brigante remains on course for the John Smith's Scottish Triumph Hurdle Trial at Musselburgh on February 7. Gordon Elliott's juvenile leapt to prominence in the Triumph Hurdle betting itself with a seriously impressive display in beating previous ante-post favourite Alaivan. He strolled home for an 11-length victory in the Grade Two inforthenight.ie Juvenile Hurdle on Boxing Day and a trip to Scotland is now on the cards. "He's going to go for the Triumph Hurdle Trial at Musselburgh on February 7," said Elliott. "He's in good nick, he's been very good since and he'll probably go there, all being well. "Hopefully by then all this snow will have gone and we will have a bit better ground. "We always thought he was a nice horse but we hadn't had him long and we didn't think he'd go and do what he did. "He's obviously an improving horse and the good ground brought the best out of him. "Edward (O'Grady) had no excuses for his horse, I think the best horse won on the day. "We had the runner-up in the same race last year (Tharawaat) but we always sort of knew Cheltenham wouldn't suit him as he was a real mud-lark whereas this lad loves good ground, so we are looking at the Triumph Hurdle all being well."
