The John Carr trained Dunroe Boy made use of a light weight to claim his maiden racecourse win in the Tote Sports Lounge Handicap Hurdle at Punchestown today.

Ridden by Paul Townend, the point to point winner led before the final flight before staying on well for an easy win seven and a half lengths win over Tornant

Afterwards Carr reported “I had Dunroe Boy entered at Clonmel tomorrow and it's a pity I didn't leave him in! There aren't too many similar opportunities here in the next ten days so I might bring him to Perth next Thursday with a few others.

“My horses ran terrible all winter (Dunroe Boy's form read '9PPP0' during that period) but they are all running well now although they are not working any better at home.”
