Carrigeen ready for Catterick test Carrigeen Lechuga heads across the Irish Sea in search of a decent staying prize in the North Yorkshire Grand National Handicap Chase at Catterick on Thursday. Dick Lalor's mare hit the deck on her first couple of starts of the campaign, but performed with much more credit when fourth over a stamina-sapping trip at Fairyhouse last month. Lalor said; "She ran very well the last day. She just needed the run at Fairyhouse, but I think she'll like the ground. "She needs a trip and that's why we've come over. She seems in very good form and we're hoping for the best." Connections of Diamond Harry are hopeful of a decent run from the 2010 Hennessy Gold Cup hero. The 11-year-old, trained by Nick Williams, is back over regulation fences after running well for a long way over the cross-country circuit at Cheltenham in November when he was fourth to Balthazar King. "The trainer says he's well, but with Harry it's difficult to know what he's going to do next. We go there hopeful," said owner Paul Duffy. "We thought it would be the right race for him and over the right distance, so we are giving it a go. He didn't get up the hill at Cheltenham (in the cross-country race). It doesn't suit him, so we didn't go back there for another one. He jumped well but the hill, as usual, found him out. "Catterick is a flatter track. It is unknown territory, but we'll see how he gets on." The meeting is subject to a precautionary inspection for 7.30am due to the threat of further rain.
