Carrigmoornaspruce gets deserved graded win to her name The ultra-consistent Carrigmoornaspruce won a third bumper of the season, as she beat Seo Linn in the concluding Weatherbys General Stud Book Irish EBF Mares INH Flat Race. Already successful at Naas and Leopardstown and third to Bambino Fever at the Dublin Racing Festival, the Old Fools Partnership-owned five-year-old got a deserved big race win to her name today. Ridden and trained by Declan Queally and sent off an 11/2 chance for this Grade 3 contest, the Diamond Boy chestnut still travelled nicely in third on entering the straight. Second and ridden in pursuit of Seo Linn with a furlong and a half to go, she got to the front inside the final 150 yards, keeping on well from there to score by four-lengths. Returned the even money favourite, the aforementioned Seo Linn had to settle for second under Barry O'Neill for Paddy Twomey, while the Jonathan Sweeney-trained Divaboriva (16/1) made good late headway and was another two-lengths away in third. "The form was very strong. We had a meeting about the two mares, her sister (Carrigmoorna Beach) as well, two weeks ago and part-owner Tom McCarthy said that this filly's form was stronger," Queally revealed. "We said we'd stick her in the Grade 1 but I was talking to Paul Mullins (owner of Switch From Diesel) the morning of the decs and they said they were going for the Grade 1 so we decided to go for the easier option. "She was keen throughout but I got a grand trip round and got a nice tow into the straight. "I just had Barry (on Seo Linn) to pick off from the furlong-and-a-half pole so it was grand. "She stayed well after being so keen and it was a good performance. "It's nice to have got this with her, after being placed in two black-type races you just wanted to get the job done. "You'd be hoping she could possibly go to Listowel. The boys are farmers and that would be the dream, to have a winner down there. "Then it would be picking your battles with three or four runners in black-type races and trying to do as much as we can for the pedigree." Additional reporting by Gary Carson
