Gary Carroll made a rare ride for Ballydoyle count when Unless (6/1) won the Michael John Kennedy Memorial EBF Stakes.

Runner-up in Listed company at Killarney over a mile last time, the daughter of Justify was prominent throughout and led over two furlongs out before being ridden out to beat market leader Azazat by a length and three-quarters.

“We're delighted with her," said winning trainer Aidan O'Brien.

"She always looked like she would get that trip and she's a typical Justify, wants a classic trip, and she could even get further as Gary said she galloped all the way down to the boards.

“She's Clemmie's first foal so she's a seriously valuable mare.

“She will definitely stay further and the Yorkshire Oaks could be a possibility.”
