Cashel Blue Lands Down Royal Opener for Condon The Ken Condon-trained Cashel Blue made a winning handicap debut when landing the opening contest at Down Royal this afternoon. The daughter of Space Blues was building on a promising effort when finishing fifth at Navan on May 16th Ridden by Billy Lee, 9/1 shot Cashel Blue travelled strongly throughout before being produced to challenge entering the closing stages. She quickened up nicely and kept on strongly to get her head in front late on for a neck success. Billy Lee said: "Exactly (handicapping on better ground a good combination for her) - as you see there, she is not over big, but she is fierce genuine. "Loved that really good ground today, it is the quickest we have probably run on this year. It is in great condition, so great job with the track and no complaints that way. "She travelled well, had a good position and she picked up well. Just a few little things she did - she skipped over the road, and she had a look at the crossing at the furlong out where the people cross the track. Just little things like that, but it is experience for her. "It was a nice performance and hopefully she can win again. "We went quick and he (Spirit Above) was giving me something to aim at. He kept going well, so I had to work to get to him, so a nice little performance." (Quotes by Michael Graham)
