Castle Wings takes Limerick's opener

The opening race of Limerick’s Christmas Festival, the Anglo Printers Maiden Hurdle, went to Jimmy Mangan’s Castle Wings under the trainer’s son Patrick Mangan.

The son of Winged Love led after three out before staying on well for a 12 lengths win over Noble Pageant

Afterwards Mangan Snr stated “Castle Wings is a half brother to Conna Castle (Power Gold Cup winner) but has previously been a bit unlucky.

“Stamina is his forte and when he fell here two runs back, when Whatwillwecallher won, I’m not saying he would have won but Pat said he would have been close to her passing the line.”
