Catherine of Siena followed up an easy win at Dundalk last month when dropping down to the minimum trip to take the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Race.

The well-backed 4/6 favourite again made all under Seamie Heffernan but had to work much harder for victory on this occasion.

The Kevin Coleman-trained filly was brought to the stands’ side in the straight along with Maggie McGath who threw down a strong challenge a furlong from home.

However, Heffernan’s mount found plenty under pressure and kept on well in the closing stages to score by a length with the winner’s stablemate Oneplusone outrunning odds of 100/1 a further length and a half back in third.

Coleman said, "We won this race with Queens Carriage two years ago. We thought this one was more of a miler, she wouldn't have the same speed as her but she has a bit of class.

“I don't know how good that race will end up but we always thought she was an 80 to 90 filly and Seamie did too. It just took her so long to get going.

“She loves that surface and she's genuine so what more can you ask? She has enough done now, she has two nice pots won.

“The other filly ran well too, we weren't expecting that.”
