Caviar makes it 25 Black Caviar recorded her 25th successive victory in the Darley T.J. Smith Stakes at Randwick in Sydney. Black Caviar fever had grabbed Sydney with racing fans queuing at Randwick from early in the morning and Australia's star race mare didn't disappoint with a smooth success in the six furlong contest. Jumping well from the one box, Luke Nolen always had the seven year old well positioned and he eased his mount to the front approaching the final furlong. Epaulette and Bel Sprinter made up ground from the rear to finish second and third respectively but there was never any danger of the Peter Moody trained winner being denied a 15th Group One success. 'I'm just really pleased she's put on a hell of a show for such a big crowd that's come out here. Sydney haven't had the pleasure of her as much as Victoria, and I am just really proud to bring her on the road,'' he told www.theage.com.au. Some Sydney trainers had claimed that the daughter of Bel Esprit had been getting things easy in Melbourne, with races run to suit and riders showing an exaggerated sense of respect and a jubilant Nolen was delighted to have proved them wrong. ''They were going to make her earn it today but she still kicked their arse. If there are any knockers today they can come and see me and I will sort them out.'' What the future holds for the wonder mare remains undecided. Post race Moody said meetings would take place in the next week or so to determine her future plans. Brisbane officials are hoping she will travel to Queensland for their carnival, while Royal Ascot has not given up hope that she will return to England in June.
