Cecil issues warning to Midday rivals

Henry Cecil has warned potential rivals that Darley Yorkshire Oaks candidate Midday is an even fitter horse now than she was when striking Group One gold at Goodwood last month.

The four-year-old landed the Nassau Stakes for the second successive year on her latest appearance and her trainer is confident of another bold show on the Knavesmire on August 19th.

"She's very well. She got slightly jarred up at York earlier in the year, but I had to get her out and she needed that race," said Cecil.

"She came back really well and has come on a lot since the Nassau. I'd be disappointed if she didn't run a really good race."

Cecil revealed that stablemate Flame Of Gibraltar would not join Midday in the mile-and-a-half contest.
