Cesarewitch hope A Dream To Share ineligible for Newmarket contest A Dream To Share will not line up in the Club Godolphin Cesarewitch after the British Horseracing Authority confirmed his ineligibility. BHA Confirms Ineligibility for Cesarewitch The seven-year-old, owned by JP McManus, had been second favourite for the October 11 contest but cannot run as he does not have a British Flat handicap mark. Winner of the Champion Bumper at Cheltenham and Punchestown in 2023, A Dream To Share was switched to the Flat this spring after underwhelming efforts over hurdles. He won one of three starts for John and Thomas Kiely but failed to secure a handicap rating before the qualification deadline of August 19. Appeal Dismissed by Handicapping Ombudsman Connections appealed the decision, asking BHA handicapping ombudsman David Cleary to review whether the refusal to assign a mark was correct. “In a decision that will be published in full in due course, Mr Cleary found that the approach taken in this case… was consistent with the treatment afforded to any other Irish-trained and raced Flat horses,” a BHA spokesperson confirmed. The ruling meant that the horse was not qualified when weights were published, and race conditions do not allow for late additions, ensuring fairness for other competitors and bettors.
