Eddie Harty saddled his second bumper winner of the month, as his Not The Chablis took the last at Down Royal this evening, the Mencap INH Flat Race.

Third on debut at Killarney last month, the son of Scorpion was sent off at 3/1 this evening, in the colours of Harty's wife Marie.

Sent straight to the front by Mark O'Hare, the bay victor made all. He veered right toward the rail over a furlong out, but ultimately kept on best under pressure, going on to oblige by three lengths.

The well-backed 4/5 favourite Cats For Cash had to settle for second under Lisa O'Neill for Gordon Elliott, while Russian Solider was another three parts of a length back in third.

Harty said afterwards: "I have to give most of the credit to Patrick, my son, who picked him out for his mother and the two of them went in together on him.

"I've overseen him but I gave Patrick a lot of the rope with this fellow and make his own choices where we go.

"He has won well today so I'm happy with him. He did it the hard way as nothing wanted to go on. It was difficult enough for him, he was green enough and we hope he'll improve again.

"He just had a little look when he took it up initially going by the stands which was fair enough as it was into the sun. Once he got into a rhythm he was fine and went on about his business.

"He could run in a winner's bumper. That would be the plan you would think. This makes the journey home shorter!"

STEWARDS REPORT

The Stewards interviewed Mr D.T. Kelly, rider of Russian Soldier concerning his use of the whip in the closing stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Stewards were of the opinion that Mr. D.T. Kelly was in breach of Regulation 10.4 in that he failed to give his mount time to respond. Having considered his record in this regard, the Stewards suspended Mr. D.T. Kelly for 4 racedays and ordered him to attend RACE for 1 days tuition on the correct use of the whip.
