Champion Browne McMonagle returns with Cork winner Champion jockey Dylan Browne McMonagle returned following an injury incurred at Hong Kong to score on his first day back today, landing Cork’s Irish Stallion Farms EBF Median Auction Fillies Maiden on the Joseph O’Brien-trained Yousaynothingatall (1/1f). Browne McMonagle was crowned champion rider in November and having initially spent a successful winter in Hong Kong, suffered a vertebrae-fracture in a fall at Happy Valley in March. Today the 23-year-old returned race-riding and while unsuccessful on three earlier rides and pulled up in the earlier Cork Derby, resumed winning ways on Yousaynothingatall who made all to score by five lengths Miss Romagna . Browne McMonagle reported “I’m glad to be back and Joseph’s horses are in great form. Thankfully I have come in when they are in tip-top shape and this was a good way to get started. “Hong Kong was unbelievable and I really really enjoyed it. I learned a lot, it was good to meet new faces and was all a learning curve. I’d love to go back again next winter but I’m glad to be back on home soil and getting back on the board. “This filly will get 1m4f and a cut in the ground is a big help to her. I think she quite enjoyed making the running and when they got to me at the two-furlong pole, she responded well and quickened. She is improving and getting better with racing.” Trainer O’Brien added “we backed Yousaynothingatall up a little soon but she needs racing to get the hang of things as she is lackadaisical still although I thought she was impressive today and responded well today. She had been slow to respond with Declan (McDonogh) the last day and didn’t get rocking until it was all over so it was nice to see her win her maiden well today. “I think she will stay very well and am hopefully she will progress before the end of the season. She will have four to six weeks now between her next start and we’d love to go back to a big galloping track.”
