Chanceawetmorning continues to make hay on dry ground Jumping proved the name of the game as Chanceawetmorning was left clear after the odds-on Bunting exited at the last in the Matchbook Betting Exchange Novice Chase at Punchestown. In fairness the Gordon Elliott-trained gelding appeared to be getting the better of the 8/13 favourite and after striking the front two out, held about a length advantage when his rival made a mistake and unseated Paul Townend. Chanceawetmorning was left clear under Jack Kennedy to beat Sir Allen by 13 lengths at odds of 11/2 in this 2m2f Grade 3 event, with Vitorio Piel dropping away tamely in the straight to be tailed off in third. Elliott said, “I only stuck him in the race at 11.50 the other morning when I saw the very small entry. I thought the trip was a bit short for him, but he was very tough. He wants further so I was very worried about the trip. “Jack said early he skidded into the first fence and lost his confidence a bit, but he stayed going very well. He probably wouldn't want real winter ground, but we'll see what happens. “He's after winning five races for us this summer so it's great.” Quotes by John O'Riordan
