Channon Planning Wings Assault Mick Channon will get tough with Flashy Wings in the next few weeks before making a decision on whether to give her a run before the Stan James 1000 Guineas in May.The Zafonic filly is set to step up in her work ahead of a possible date in the Dubai Duty Free Stakes at Newbury on April 22.However, the West Ilsley trainer is mindful that the cold start to the year has kept the fillies backward in their coats.Last year's Queen Mary and Lowther Stakes winner could therefore go straight for the Classic at Newmarket. He explained: 'Ideally, I could do with some sun on their backs to bring them on and I haven't done anything serious with Flashy Wings yet.'Before Silca's Sister went to Godolphin it was hard to split them but in my own mind I always thought Flashy was better than her and if you'd put a gun to my head and made me choose, I'd have gone for Flashy Wings.'Channon has two other 1000 Guineas entries in Silver Touch and Asaawir and has always had a high opinion of the former, a daughter of Dansili out of Sanglamore mare.Channon added: 'Silver Touch was prevented from running last year with sore shins but I think she's a high class filly and will probably go for a seven-furlong maiden at the Newbury spring meeting.'Asaawir has a bit to find as she's rated 98 but with these fillies anything can happen and all options are open for her.'Channon's hopes in the Stan James 2000 Guineas rest with Championship Point and Yasoodd. He added: 'Championship Point is an under-rated horse who won the Chesham and was beaten a head in Ireland giving 5lb to a decent horse. He might need further than a mile.'Yasoodd was disqualified after winning a Group Three in France which was a ridiculous decision. He's done well but is probably a few pounds short of Guineas standard.'? PA Sport
