Chapple-Hyam Mulls Lincoln Bid Peter Chapple-Hyam is hoping to run Don´t Panic in Saturday´s William Hill Lincoln at Doncaster - providing he is satisfied with the condition of his string. The four-year-old progressed well towards the end of last year, posting two victories in his last three races of the campaign. However, Don´t Panic currently sits just below the cut for the Lincoln and Chapple-Hyam harbours a few minor concerns regarding his team, although the Fath gelding pleased in a Monday workout under Alan Munro. "A few of the horses have been coughing. I´m going to get them checked before we decide on Don´t Panic," the Newmarket handler said. "He has never galloped brilliantly at home but I was pleased with his work. "But I think we need eight to come out to actually get in the field and I don´t really want to run him in the Spring Mile," he told www.peterchapplehyam.com. Don´t Panic is currently a best-priced 16-1 chance for the Lincoln with totesport. Chapple-Hyam added: "He is still improving and has been much better since we had him gelded. "He is much better with soft ground so I hope he gets in and I do want to run him in the Lincoln. "He went home at the end of last season and I have had to rush to get him ready but he is ready enough now." Should he miss the cut for the Lincoln, Chapple-Hyam still has the option of running him in the Spring Mile, which the sponsors have upped in value by £10,000 to £40,000. He added: "The Lincoln is the race I want to go for so we´ll have to see about the Spring Mile, but it is still an option." William Haggas will be doubled-handed with his raiding party headed by last year´s winner Very Wise. After scoring over the mile trip at Newmarket in November, the six-year-old disappointed in two runs on the all-weather but is back fighting fit ahead of the Flat season´s traditional curtain raiser. A 14-1 chance with the sponsors, Very Wise enjoyed a solo spin up Warren Hill in Newmarket this morning but Haggas is worried about the gelding´s place in the handicap. "He won the race last year of 91 and he went on to win at Newmarket off 94," said Haggas. "From a personal point of view I think you need to be well-handicapped for one of these big handicaps and I don´t think he can win off 100. "In these sorts of races you have to have a horse who has the potential to be a Stakes horse and one who is up to Listed or Group class. "Jimmy Fortune will ride Very Wise with Richard Hills on Heaven Knows - if Barry Hills´ Zaahid doesn´t get in. If Richard has to ride Zaahid then we will get Martin Dwyer. "Heaven Knows will like the ground and he has been a totally different horse since we had him castrated during the winter. "A mile and quarter may be his best trip but he wasn´t racing properly last year and is now much sharper. "We tried him over a mile and a half in the November Handicap on his final start last season as he was on a winning roll and was well-in. "He didn´t run too badly but if he isn´t quick enough for the Lincoln there is nothing we can do about it." (C) PA Sport
