Jane Chapple-Hyam has moved quickly to snap up the services of Joseph O'Brien for Mull Of Killough in the Betfred Cambridgeshire at Newmarket on Saturday.

The Australian-born trainer took advantage of the possibility of O'Brien coming over to ride on the high-class card for his father, Aidan.

Mull Of Killough has tackled some of the most competitive handicaps this year, going close in the Lincoln at Doncaster in March when he was short-headed by Brae Hill.

"I just assumed Joseph would be coming over to ride his retained horses and this horse is a half-brother to Excelebration. Maybe that swayed him to ride Mull Of Killough," she said.

"He's performed well throughout the year. I'm happy to have good ground, I didn't want good to firm.

"He's in good order and we just need a bit of luck from the Irish. Hopefully Joseph can deliver that.

"We also need a bit of luck in running during the race and at the start from the draw.

"I can't see the step up a furlong being a problem on the way he won on the July course.

"His last run when he was fourth at Ascot on Shergar Cup day, the ground was a little lively.

"He was just behind Boom And Bust and we've got a better change around in the weights now. I'm looking forward to a big run from him."

James Toller believes Rewarded faces a tall order, although the three-year-old is a course winner and is back in handicap company after three runs in Group races.

"It's a tough race for three-year-olds, but he's in good form and the trip and everything should be OK for him," said the Newmarket trainer.

"Any rain would be very welcome. There hasn't been as much here at Newmarket as everywhere else.

"The ground at the moment is just pretty good, certainly not on the soft side.

"I wouldn't mind any rain as he goes on soft ground, he has won on it and it would inconvenience some of the others.

"I'm happy enough on good ground, It would be nice for it to suit us.

"He handles the track and he's a thoroughly nice genuine horse. He should run OK."

Bookmakers Paddy Power have seen support for Rewarded and have trimmed his price to 14-1 from 20s while he is 16-1 from 25s with William Hill.
