Connections of Call The Cops will decide over the summer whether to send the Pertemps Final winner over fences next season.

The Nicky Henderson-trained six-year-old was denied by just a head from pulling off the Cheltenham-Aintree double by Taglietelle.

He is now effectively rated out of handicaps and would need to tackle the best three-mile hurdlers around.

Owner Matt Morgan said: " The race fell apart a bit and he was left in front a bit earlier than ideal and we were undone by a Carberry special. To his credit, he kicked on again and nearly got back up.

"He keeps on surprising us because he shows very little at home, but he's gone up another 8lb to 153. He's now about 10lb off the World Hurdle horses, so we've a decision to make.

"Do we take on the best around, Cole Harden and Whisper, or do we send him chasing?

"Normally if you have a mid 140-rated hurdler they make exciting chasers, so he could be really good.

"He's not very big, so he may end up not wanting three miles over fences, but he certainly comes to life on the track.

"It's a nice problem to have."
