Chepstow incentivise Irish runners for Welsh Racing Festival Chepstow Racecourse is hosting the Dragonbet Welsh Racing Festival on 9th,10th and 11th of October with over £500,000 in prize money up for grabs across the three days of jumping action. In an attempt to attract Irish-trained runners the racecourse is offering a travel allowance of £500 for any horse from Ireland that competes over the three days. The travel expenses will increase to £1,000 for Irish-trained horses that run in any of the five featured races at the event: Persian War Novices Hurdle 2 miles 4 furlongs Veterans’ Chase 3 miles Dragonbet Native River Chase 3 miles John Ayres Memorial Chase 2 miles 3 furlongs Listed Tom Malone Bloodstock Novices Chase 2 miles 3 furlongs The groundstaff team at Chepstow are confident of producing safe jumping ground for the opening fixtures of their new season and began watering the course from the start of August. The £175,000 Coral Welsh National will be run a day later than normal this Christmas at Chepstow Racecourse. The big race will take place on Monday 28th December which is a bank holiday in both Ireland and the UK this year.
