Chinese set for l'Opera

Chinese White will aim for a first success at the highest level in the Prix de l'Opera at Longchamp on October 4th.

The Dermot Weld-trained filly has won her last three races, with her latest success coming in the Group Two Blandford Stakes last weekend.

Owned by Lady O'Reilly, the four-year-old is also under consideration for a trip to Santa Anita for the Breeders' Cup.

"Chinese White will go for the Prix de l'Opera next and if we are lucky enough to win that, we might consider the Breeders' Cup Filly & Mare Turf for her," said James Kelly, the owner's racing manager.

"She's class, she's fulfilling all the promise now that we thought she had 12 months ago and if ever a filly deserved a Group One, it is Chinese White.

"Hopefully she can do it in Paris in a couple of weeks' time, but the good thing about her is that she is totally ground independent. She goes on all types so at least we don't have to worry about the ground.

"I hope Dar Re Mi goes for the l'Opera rather than the Arc because we always felt Chinese White would have more toe than her in the final 100 yards.

"Dar Re Mi only beat our other filly Beach Bunny by a short-head in the Pretty Polly and Chinese White would murder Beach Bunny.

"I hope all the best fillies in Europe turn up in the l'Opera because that is what racing needs and then you just want no hard luck stories on the day so the best horse wins."
