Cirrus sees off Kazeem in Ganay Popular veteran Cirrus Des Aigles led all the way and held off Al Kazeem to win the Prix Ganay at Longchamp for the third time. Olivier Peslier, riding Al Kazeem for the first time, asked Roger Charlton's seven-year-old to get closer fully two furlongs out as Christophe Soumillon wound up the pace in front, but the gap did not shorten immediately. On entering the final furlong it looked like race fitness was going to tell as Al Kazeem closed to within a length, b ut the amazing Cirrus Des Aigles found plenty for pressure and eventually ran out a cosy winner. There were some class horses in behind who never got involved and were beaten a long way, such as We Are and Prince Gibraltar, adding substance to the form. In the past, Corine Barande-Barbe's star has needed his first run of the season badly and having not been seen since finishing fourth in the Hong Kong Cup in December, there was not much confidence behind him before the race.
