Cloak a classy winner for Murtagh Brigid’s Cloak proved too strong for her rivals in the Cavalor Equine Irish EBF Fillies Handicap at the Curragh. The Johnny Murtagh-trained filly had won at Dundalk last month before finishing second on her return to the turf at Naas. She went to post a 6/1 shot today and was soon disputing under Patrick McGettigan. He asked his mount to quicken away over a furlong from home and she soon settled matters, going on to post a cosy four-and-a-quarter length winning margin. “She’s settling well now, she was a little bit flighty in her last couple of races,” said Murtagh. “We freshened her up and this looked like an ideal race for her. “I’d say the little bit of rain that came helped her as well. She’s improving and hopefully she’ll keep improving because we paid plenty for her as a yearling. “Hopefully she’ll develop into the filly we think she will be. We’re probably looking at premier handicaps now. “The 7lb really helped today, and a good draw.”
