Caim Hill switches back to the Flat as he goes in search of his 14th career success in the Tipperary Perpetual Cup Handicap at Clonmel.

The versatile 11-year-old reverts to the level having finished unplaced behind Unoccupied in a three-mile-six-furlong handicap chase on the final day of the Punchestown Festival last Saturday.

He faces seven rivals in this two-mile contest, with Newellen for John Oxx, the Mick Winters-trained Silver Chief and last year's winner Captainofthefleet sure to be popular with punters.

Trainer Philip Fenton said: "We are taking a chance with the fact he only ran last Saturday and he has appeared to come out of the race reasonably well, so we are hoping for a nice run. The ground should suit, he has been working well, and he has been a great old servant."

George Kent's Caliso Bay will try to get off the mark at the sixth attempt in the Ladies Evening At Clonmel Races May 22nd Handicap. The daughter of High Chaparral finished third on her latest start at Gowran, and Kent is confident she will handle the step up in trip from seven furlongs to a mile and two furlongs.

The County Waterford handler said: "Her pedigree would suggest ten furlongs won't be a problem. I'm not sure how much she'd stay beyond ten furlongs, but I'd be fairly confident she will stay the trip. You don't know these things until you try them, but at Dundalk over a mile she was doing her best work at the finish.

"We had to go back to seven furlongs the last day, and I hadn't done much with her, but I raced her anyway and we are happy with her since. I'd like to think she will be competitive. The ground is soft at the moment, there is a bit of juice in it and that will be OK. If she handles the track and gets into the race and does things right, she should be competitive."

The two-mile Main Guard Handicap rounds off proceedings at the County Tipperary venue, and Philip Byrne is represented here by Roisin Dubh. This eight-year-old mare was just beaten over hurdles at Limerick on her last start and switching disciplines here, she makes her debut in handicap company.

Having missed an engagement at Fairyhouse on Tuesday owning to the good to firm ground, Byrne is hopeful his daughter of Winged Love can put in a good performance.

He said: "She came out of the race at Limerick really well. She is fit from jump racing and she is just going to line up and take her chance, and we are hoping for a good run. This is her first handicap, so we are just going to see how she goes, and we are hopeful more than anything. The ground was a bit too quick for her at Fairyhouse."

Jim Bolger fields Feile Bride in the race and she is one of a clutch of entries for the Coolcullen handler at the track. He also sends Sar Oiche for the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Fillies Maiden, while Stirabout is interesting in the West Gate (C&G) Median Auction Maiden.

Chance To Dance is the trainer's representative in the Fethard Maiden after recently chasing home the well-regarded Sea Of Wells.
