Moonlight Cloud reeled in Lethal Force to land a third Prix Maurice de Gheest in impressive fashion at Deauville.

Freddie Head's filly travelled powerfully behind a strong pace set by Adam Kirby on Clive Cox's charge and once asked to quicken with a furlong to run, she powered clear for a comprehensive success under Thierry Jarnet.

The winner, who provided Head with his sixth win in the race as a trainer since 2006, is likely to return to the track in a week's time to contest the Prix Jacques le Marois over a mile.

Back in third was Tom Hogan's Gordon Lord Byron who stayed on in the closing stages, losing little in defeat on ground which would have been fast enough for Johnny Murtagh's mount.

Fellow Irish raider Gale Force Ten was well-beaten under Ryan Moore and eased in the closing stages.
