Club gets Haydock entry Willie Mullins has entered seven for the Betfred Grand National Trial at Haydock next month. The Midnight Club, sixth in last year's Grand National, is among the possibles for the Closutton handler in the £75,000 contest. John Smith's Grand National favourite Junior could make his seasonal reappearance. David Pipe's charge is one of 47 entries for the race which has attracted a host of leading Aintree fancies. Becher Chase winner West End Rocker could represent Alan King while Welsh National hero Le Beau Bai and Mon Mome are other interesting entries. Dickon White, Haydock Park's managing director, said: "These are really excellent entries for the Betfred Grand National Trial. There are some serious horses here. "What particularly delights us is the interest in the race from trainers in Ireland. It all adds up to what is set to be a superb day's racing on Saturday February 18th at Haydock Park." The afternoon's racing on February 18th also includes the Grade Two Betfred Goals Galore Hurdle (registered as the Rendlesham Hurdle) and the Grade Two Albert Bartlett Novices' Hurdle (registered as the Prestige Novices' Hurdle).
