Jamie Codd took advantage of Derek O'Connor’s ban as he recorded a treble at Borris House point-to-point in Co Carlow yesterday.

O’Connor was suspended for three race days for using his whip with his arm above shoulder height in a bumper at Downpatrick on March 6th.

The ban was for 21st, 23rd and 24th of March meaning O’Connor missed this weekend’s action.

Codd recorded his first winner in the Duninga Gallops Mares Winners of Three race aboard the Gordon Elliott trained Derg Princess.

The 7yo daughter of Definite Article ran out an easy six length winner, to record her fourth win of the season.

Codd combined with local trainer Aidan Fitzgerald for his second winner, Cobajayisland, in the 5yo plus Confined Maiden.

The 5yo son of Heron Island was sent off favourite and he didn’t let down his supporters, coming home a comfortable five length winner.

Codd completed his treble in the last race on the card, division two of the 6yo plus Geldings Maiden, aboard the Dan Fogarty trained Redpender.

This grey 8yo son of Great Palm was having his seventh career start and he quickened clear before the last to record an easy eight length success.

The treble for Codd moves him four winners ahead of his great rival Derek O’Connor (52 - 48) in the race to be crowned top point-to-point jockey of the season.
